Our PURPOSE is:
The organized unit of United Methodist Women shall be a community of women whose PURPOSE is to know God and to experience freedom as whole persons through Jesus Christ; to develop a creative, supportive fellowship; and to expand concepts of mission through participation in the global ministries of the church.
Women join UMW to grow spiritually, educationally and intellectually, to be stimulated, to gain leadership experience, to meet other women and to be involved in missions in the following ways:
Spiritual growth studies and renewal
Mission Education
Biblical and theological study
Women in Crisis programs
Child advocacy
Giving on behalf of persons in missions
Legislative affairs
Human rights issues
Combating racism
Reading Program
The UMW at Mt. Sylvan has 200 members and has a dinner meeting each quarter. There are eight (8) circles that meet monthly.
