I first felt a call into ministry as a young adult when I was part of a congregation that was alive with the Holy Spirit and actively putting their faith into practice by reaching out to the world with good news of hope and healing. I knew at that moment that I could spend the rest of my life serving Christ and helping others catch a glimpse of the possibility of new life offered to us by Christ. I get to live out this calling every day at Mt. Sylvan through my involvement with Missions—helping organize the congregation to meet the real needs of its community and world through active service and presence with our neighbors; through my involvement with Children—teaching and forming the identity of our youngest members the good news of who God is and what God has made possible for them; through Pastoral Care—being present with a message of hope at the high and low moments of folks’ lives; and through Preaching and Worship leadership—proclaiming the good news in Word and Sacrament and helping others catch a vision of God’s love and peace. I hope that you will come out to worship and serve with us at Mt. Sylvan so that you, too, might catch a vision of who God is and how God is working for good in the world around us.
